Summary

To assist in the daily operations of the Outdoor Research retail store.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.  All of the following are to be performed while adhering to OR operational policies, procedures, and safety rules.

Communicate product information to customers to assist in their buying decisions.

Operate cash register quickly and efficiently.

Identify and participate in projects needing completion in the store.

Maintain an upbeat and positive attitude at all times.

Learn and know features and benefits of all product lines.

Greet and be courteous to every customer.

Continually restock and straighten merchandise.

 Perform opening and closing duties (i.e. unlock doors, open registers, etc)

 Aide in placing store orders.

 Keep back-stock inventory at optimum levels.

 Organize and stock “Closeout Corner.”

 Work with Warehouse to move old styles, rep samples and closeout inventory.

 Maintain Store Closeout/Sample inventory spreadsheets.

 Become proficient with scanning equipment.

                         Assist Store Manager with store projects.

 Supervisory Responsibilities

             This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

              To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty                        satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or                    ability required.

Education, Experience and Other Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to six months related experience and/or training in retail sales environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Personal knowledge of outdoor equipment through use as well as willingness to learn product information.  Proficient in 10-key.  Ability to maintain an excellent attendance and punctuality record.  Ability to work well with an ethnically and culturally diverse workforce and public.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Mathematical Skills

 Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and commissions.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
